Bon Iver West Coast tour to include San Diego date

Share

Bon Iver, the Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter whose real name is Justin Vernon, will perform four California concerts in October.

His mini-tour begins Oct. 18 in Oakland, where he’ll be joined by punk-rock godmother Patti Smith, and concludes Oct. 26 in San Diego, at Jacobs Music Center’s Copley Symphony Hall, where, alas, he won’t be joined by Smith. In between those two dates, he’ll perform at two very different locales - the Santa Ana Beach Goth Festival, Oct. 22, and the Hollywood Bowl, Oct. 23.

This will be Vernon’s first San Diego show since 2011, which is when the second (and most recent) Bon Iver allbum came out. Louisiana-born singer songwriter Julianna Barwick will open the show here.

Tickets for the Copley Symphony Hall concert are priced at $55 and $75 each, plus service charges. They will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. at all Ticketmaster outlets, online at ticketmaster.com and by phone at (800) 745-3000. An online-only pre-sale for members of the Bon Iver fan club will begin Wednesday.

Vernon has indicated he will preview new music at August performance at the 2016 Eaux Claires Music & Arts Festival in his Wisconsin hometown of Eaux Claire. Presumably, he will do so as well at his four California concerts in October.
