Hottest stars at this year’s Comic-Con

Hollywood has taken over Comic-Con for real. This year, a late-night talk show will broadcast live from the Con for the first time ever, and the level of star power alone could probably provide the electricity needed to light the 2.6-million-square-foot convention center all weekend.

Though the convention will always be a haven for comic lovers and geeks in costumes, in recent years, the likes of George Clooney and Scarlett Johansson could be seen walking the hallowed halls of Comic-Con. And we mean literally walking.

Stars like Hugh Jackman and Bryan Cranston have been known to don the masks of characters they play to walk among the fans in the exhibit halls. One year, stars from “The Twilight Saga” brought breakfast out to fans waiting in line to see their panel.

So who should you be on the lookout for this year? We’ve compiled a list - and based on past years, we’re in for a few surprises, so this list is just the tip of the iceberg:

Conan O’Brien : The jokester will make history as the first late-night talk show host to broadcast his show from the Con. The episodes will be filmed at Spreckels Theatre starting Wednesday and will air on TBS at 11 p.m. each night, including Saturday and Sunday.

Halle Berry : If you love the beautiful Halle Berry in her role as Storm in the “X-Men” film franchise, then you’ll want to check out her sci-fi TV series “Extant.” Noon Thursday, Ballroom 20.

Jennifer Lawrence: The Academy Award winner is scheduled to make an appearance with fellow cast members of “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2” on Conan O’Brien’s special broadcast from Spreckels Theatre Thursday, so you can safely assume she’ll also be at the film’s panel that day. Noon today, Hall H.

FULL COVERAGE: Comic-Con 2015

Lea Michelle: The singer/actress has previously appeared at the Con for a “Glee” panel, but this time she’s back to produce more terrifying vocals. She and the cast of the highly anticipated new series “Scream Queens” will put on a horror-filled panel. 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Hall H.

Rob Lowe: Whether you know him from the “Brat Pack,” “Parks and Recreation” or those ridiculous DirecTV commercials, Rob Lowe is all over the place. He voices a character on the Comedy Central show “Moonbeam City” and will head to Comic-Con to chat about it. 4 p.m. Thursday, Indigo Ballroom, Hilton San Diego Bayfront.

The Backstreet Boys: Well, at least three out of five will be there. Apparently Nick Carter is beginning to dabble in horror filmmaking and will be joined by band mates Howie Dorough and A.J. McLean on a panel to explain what that’s all about. 7 p.m. Thursday, Room 5AB.

Quentin Tarantino: It has been three years since the controversial writer/director released a movie, the acclaimed “Django Unchained.” At Comic-Con he’ll give fans an exclusive look at his next film, “The Hateful Eight.” 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Hall H.

David Hasselhoff: Why is The Hoff being included on this list of way more impressive celebrities, you ask? Because of “Sharknado,” that’s why. He’ll be joined by Tara Reid and other cast members and creators to talk about the franchise’s upcoming third film - “Sharknado: Oh Hell No.” 7:15 p.m. Friday, Room 6A.

Kiss: If they’re done up in their classic black-and-white makeup, Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley should be easy to spot. The band is joining forces with the “Scooby-Doo” franchise for a new musical adventure. Hopefully this panel will include a Q&A session. 6 p.m. Thursday, Hall H.

Liam Hemsworth : Sorry, but the author of this list is on “Team Gale” and therefore had to choose Liam Hemsworth over Josh Hutcherson. They’ll both join Jennifer Lawrence on Conan O’Brien’s Comic-Con broadcast today and will probably join the “Hunger Games” panel. Noon Thursday, Hall H.

Tom DeLonge: Blink-182 co-founder (and San Diego’s own) Tom DeLonge is a huge comic nerd and wants to tell you all about it. He’ll join some other “creative professionals” at a panel called “Funny Pages.” 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Horton Grand Theatre.

Seth MacFarlane : The king of hilarious character voice-overs (including his latest release, “Ted 2”) will have a panel entirely dedicated to him this year, where he’ll provide sneak peaks of upcoming seasons of “Family Guy” and “American Dad” as well as his new project “Bordertown!” 1 p.m. Saturday, Ballroom 20.
