Entertainment awaits in Las Vegas

Las Vegas is truly The Entertainment Capital of the World, and the variety of offerings is unparalleled in the areas of celebrity, food, nightlife, music and entertainment.

Here’s what is new in town when it comes to entertaining music shows:

What are their ages again? San Diego’s Blink-182 — front man bassist and vocalist Mark Hoppus, rock star drummer Travis Barker and newbie guitarist and vocalist Matt Skiba — kicked off a high-energy and hits-packed residency, Kings of the Weekend, in May at Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort, but it’s been a rough go ever since. Barker was recently diagnosed with blood clots in his arms, and back-to-back weekend shows in the 16-show run were canceled in June. Fans have to wait until Oct. 26 for Blink’s return.

Celine Dion has announced 24 new dates for her residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace from Oct. 30 through Nov. 17 and Dec. 28 through Jan. 20, including a performance on New Year’s Eve. Tickets went on sale June 8, and her second residency includes her latest single Ashes from Deadpool 2. The 24 dates by Dion, who has performed more than 1,000 shows to more than 4 million fans at The Colosseum, are Oct. 30-31; November 2-3, 6-7, 9-10, 13-14 and 16-17; Dec. 28-29 and 31; Jan. 2, 4-5, 8, 11, 15-16 and 19-20.

If listening to music and partying in pool attire under the blazing sun is appealing, check out Go Pool at Flamingo Las Vegas’ summer lineup. Austin Mahone, Naughty by Nature and Bow Wow were recent headliners, and the upcoming lineup includes Scotty McCreery (July 5); Rita Ora (July 13); Mase (July 14); Coolio (July 19); Ja Rule (July 28); Jesse McCartney (Aug. 18); Midland (Aug. 29); Russell Dickerson (Sept. 11); and Chris Janson (Sept. 26). Yes, those are country artists in the mix!

If hard rock is more your speed (metal), then Cannery Casino in North Las Vegas has the remedy, with dual-headliners Great White and Slaughter on July 7 (tickets start at a mere $19.95!) and former Motley Crue front man and Las Vegas resident Vince Neil on July 21. Now who knows all the words to Once Bitten, Twice Shy, Fly to the Angels and Home Sweet Home?

In case you didn’t know, that includes Brett Young (Aug. 17); The Original Wailers (Sept. 8); Lee Brice (Sept. 28); and Sublime With Rome (Sept. 29). Yes, those are country artists in the mix … hey, wait a minute!

And saving the most interesting collaboration for last, Sting and Shaggy are bringing their upbeat, island-flavored 44/876 Tour to Park Theater at Park MGM (formerly Monte Carlo) on Oct. 13 in support of their album collaboration 44/876. Expect mashups of their hits, including Every Breath You Take, Englishman in New York, Message in a Bottle, It Wasn’t Me, Mr. Boombastic and Angel. The album and tour titles reference their telephone country codes — 44 for the U.K., Sting’s birthplace, and 876 for Jamaica, Shaggy’s homeland.

Also: For reality-TV fans who want to keep up with the Kardashians, Khloe Kardashian’s wax figure was unveiled June 26 at Madame Tussauds at The Venetian in honor of her 34th birthday on June 27.
