Entertainment awaits in Las Vegas

Las Vegas is truly The Entertainment Capital of the World, and the variety of offerings is unparalleled in the areas of celebrity, food, nightlife, music and entertainment.

Here’s what is new in town when it comes to entertaining music and nightlife shows.

Music legend Barry Manilow, 74, is a familiar headliner in Las Vegas, having graced the marquees at Las Vegas Hilton and Paris Las Vegas in recent years. Now Manilow is returning with Manilow: Las Vegas — The Hits Come Home! at Westgate Las Vegas at the former Las Vegas Hilton. Manilow brings his 50 Top 40 hits and sales of more than 85 million albums to the legendary International Theater, also the former home of some singer named Elvis Presley. Manilow’s run begins May 24, with a final date, for now, set for Oct. 6.

The Tony Award-winning Broadway musical phenomenon Hamilton has swept the country with its Grammy Award-winning score by Lin-Manuel Miranda and its groundbreaking diverse cast, mirroring the nation’s legacy as a melting pot. This renowned production is inspired by the incredible life of Alexander Hamilton, a founding father and America’s first Secretary of Treasury. Hamilton’s three-week run from May 29 to June 24 will take place in Reynolds Hall at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts.

The Colosseum at Caesars Palace has become a familiar venue for The Elusive Chanteuse. Music icon Mariah Carey, the top-selling female artist of all time with more than 200 million records sold, is returning with her new, more intimate headlining residency, The Butterfly Returns. The show comes fresh on the stilettos of her previous two-year Colosseum run, #1 to Infinity, which ended last July. Carey, who also recently headlined at The Colosseum during the holidays, performs Butterfly from July 5 to Sept. 10.

Legendary singer-songwriter, musician and producer Stevie Wonder recently announced a five-show run of The Stevie Wonder Song Party: A Celebration of Life, Love & Music at Park Theater at Park MGM (formerly Monte Carlo). Wonder, who has 32 No. 1 hits, joins Bruno Mars, Cher, Ricky Martin, Lady Gaga (who debuts in December) and the newly named below act as a headliner at the Park, and his five dates in Sin City are Aug. 3-4, 8 and 10-11.

Queen + Adam Lambert are rocking the Las Vegas Strip this fall with a 10-date stop of The Crown Jewels at Park Theater. One of the shows, Saturday, Sept. 8, is on “Queen Day” in Las Vegas, which former Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman declared in 2004. Queen + Adam Lambert first shared a stage for the American Idol finale in May 2009 and since then have played more than 150 critically acclaimed and awe-inspiring shows across the globe.
