Two celebrities who have to make the rounds every December arrived to a white reception on Black Friday in Old Pasadena. 2013 Rose Queen Vanessa Manjarrez and Santa were on hand as the 30-foot Christmas tree at One Colorado made its debut, with merchants offering special deals, the Friendship Baptist Music Ministry singing holiday songs and donors supporting the Charles Cherniss Tournament of Toys.
Earlier, Holly Street was transformed into a winter playground with 20 tons of imported snow. Children visited reindeer, participated in craft-making courtesy of the Armory Center for the Arts and took in music from the Marshall Fundamental Secondary School Choir, the Towne Singers and jazz vocalist Rachael MacFarlane.
