Five teenagers allegedly found holding cans of spray paint on a Golden State (5) Freeway off-ramp were arrested Friday on suspicion of conspiracy to commit vandalism, police said.

At around 11:45 p.m., patrol officers noticed a Chevy SUV stopped on the shoulder just south of the Scott Road off-ramp with its lights off, said Burbank Police Lt. Eddie Ruiz.

Officers reportedly saw five suspects -- David Salinas, 18, of Pacoima, Alfonso Yeverino, 18, of Sun Valley, two 16-year-olds from Pacoima and a 17-year-old from Sylmar -- kneeling near a block wall holding the cans of spray paint.

The latter three suspects were not identified because they are minors.

When the officers pulled over, four of the suspects ran to the SUV, and the fifth ran along the freeway shoulder until he eventually stopped.

The investigation allegedly yielded several cans of spray cans and admissions that they intended to apply graffiti, Ruiz said.

Salinas and Yeverino are being held in lieu of $5,000 bail and are due in court later this week. The minors were cited with a pending court date and released to the custody of their parents.
