Glendale police officers on Tuesday served meals to patrons at the California Pizza Kitchen on Brand Boulevard, collecting tips along the way that were donated to the Special Olympics Southern California.

The annual Tip-A-Cop event raises funds for sports training for Special Olympics’ athletes with intellectual disabilities.

The organization’s Tri-Valley chapter provides a year-round sports program — which includes basketball, aquatics and track and field — for athletes in Glendale, Burbank, Agoura, Calabasas and other communities.

California Pizza Kitchen also planned to donate a portion of its food sales to the organization.
