Burning body may have ignited Sun Valley brush fire, police say

A burning body discovered in a small brush fire in Sun Valley is believed to have sparked the blaze in the first place, police said Friday.

The fire was reported about 2:50 a.m. Thursday just south of the 210 Freeway on La Tuna Canyon Road. On Friday, LAPD Lt. Scott Harrelson said the burning body appeared to have ignited the brush fire, but investigators were still trying to determine who or what set the man’s body on fire.

The case is being investigated as a homicide, he said.
