False alarm draws deputies to La Cañada bank

Share

Deputies from the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station responded in force on Tuesday to a silent burglary alarm triggered by accident at Citizens Business Bank in La Cañada Flintridge.

More than a dozen sheriff’s patrol cars lined Foothill Boulevard at Beulah Drive at around 2:30 p.m., momentarily blocking traffic, said 21-year-old Cameron Kanda of La Crescenta, who was on his way to the bank when officers arrived.

Deputies on scene confirmed that there was no attempted burglary.

Citizens Business Bank manager Emelita Bituin said one of the tellers on duty at the time may have brushed up against an alarm button, triggering the false alert. The bank will work with the alarm company to determine how the accident happened, she said.
