A YMCA housing tenant was stabbed Monday morning during a dispute with a janitor inside the Louise Street building, officials said.

The 47-year-old tenant and the 66-year-old janitor, who sustained blunt force trauma to his head, were taken to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries, Glendale Police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said.

Few details were released about the stabbing, but Lorenz confirmed both men were being detained as the investigation continued late Monday.

The dispute occurred about 9:51 a.m. in a common area inside the YMCA’s housing building in the 100 block of North Louise Street, Lorenz said.

At some point during the fight, the tenant was stabbed in the arm and torso with a knife, which was recovered by police, Lorenz said.

YMCA offers monthly, weekly and nightly room rentals for men only.
