New year to bring staffing changes at Times Community News

With the new year comes several staffing changes at the Times Community News Division that includes the Glendale News-Press, Burbank Leader and Pasadena Sun.

Jason Wells will be promoted to managing editor, news, overseeing coverage for all three of the newspapers.

Wells joined Times Community News in 2007 and was named city editor in 2009, and received the division’s top internal award in 2011.

Mark Kellam — business and politics reporter since 2011 — will be promoted to fill the expanded role of city editor for the New-Press, Leader and Sun.

In addition, Carol Cormaci will assume oversight of news coverage for the La Cañada Valley Sun and in her new title as managing editor, opinion, will continue editing letters to the editor for all four publications in the division.

In other staff changes, reporter Daniel Siegal, who currently covers La Cañada news, will move to the division-wide business/politics beat.

Taking his place in La Cañada will be Tiffany Kelly, who will also continue to cover the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and Caltech.

Bill Kisliuk, city editor of the Pasadena Sun, is leaving to work in media and publications for the Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at UCLA.

Kisliuk, who joined Times Community News in 2010, helped launch the Sun in 2011. The newspaper won several awards, including an “EPPY” last year from the industry publication Editor & Publisher for best weekly news website with fewer than 1 million monthly unique visitors.
