Burbank Water and Power facility honored for energy, water efficiency

Share

Burbank Water and Power was recently honored by the U.S. Green Building Council for its new service center and warehouse building.

The facility is one of three buildings either built or under construction on the utility’s EcoCampus to be constructed at “Platinum” level standards for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.

It is one of about 50 buildings in California to receive the designation from the council.

“BWP is committed to ensuring that the structures we create today are built with environmental respect,” said Ron Davis, the utility’s general manager, in the statement. “The silver lining is that in doing so, we are also building in long-term cost-effectiveness.”

The four levels of certification – Certified, Silver, Gold and Platinum - are awarded based on the different ways the building mitigates its environmental impact through water efficiency, using sustainable building materials and promoting energy efficiency.
