San Fernando Valley roundup: Burbank teachers participate in anti-bullying training, L.A. Dept. of Water and Power approves rate increase

Good morning, readers. Today is Monday, September 17. Teachers in Burbank learned that bullying is more than just “kids being kids.”

The California Teachers Assn. hosted the first district-wide, anti-bullying training for Burbank Unified School District teachers. Around 700 teachers from kindergarten to high school participated in the training. Burbank Leader

An accident involving a motorcycle snarled traffic along the 101 Ventura Freeway near the Reseda Blvd. exit on Saturday. The accident caused the temporary closure of all lanes. Daily News

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power has approved a rate hike that would increase the cost of services 11.1 percent over the next two years. The increase would fund improvements in infrastructure and help increase renewable energy use. Patch

The cities of Burbank and Glendale are expected to save thousands of dollars per worker under new pension legislation signed by Gov. Jerry Brown this week. Burbank Leader

City of Los Angeles transportation officials are collaborating with LAUSD to develop solutions for parking problems at the new Porter Ranch Community School. Parents of students have complained that there is not enough parking at the school, which opened in August. Patch
