The League of Women Voters of Glendale/Burbank will host a debate between Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Burbank) and his challenger, Republican Phil Jennerjahn, at 7 p.m. Monday at Burbank City Hall, 275 E. Olive Ave.

The two men are seeking to represent the redrawn 28th District, which includes Burbank and Glendale. Most of Pasadena was dropped from the district during the redrawing process. The district now stretches westward all the way to West Hollywood.

Schiff has been a member of Congress since 2001, having previously served a four-year term as a state senator. He serves on the House Appropriations Committee and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, which oversees the country’s intelligence agencies including parts of the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security.

Jennerjahn, who is a political consultant, ran for mayor of Los Angeles in 2009 and U.S. Congress in 2010. His goals include repealing Obama’s federal health care overhaul bill, eliminating Fannie May and Freddie Mac and dismantling several federal agencies, such as the departments of Education, Agriculture, Energy, Labor and Transportation.
