Play is proof of Colony’s quality

On Sunday afternoon we witnessed one of the finest live theater performances we have ever seen: Mariette Hartley starring in “The Morini Strad” at the Colony Theatre. She received a prolonged standing ovation from a very emotional audience. The Colony’s financial difficulties have become public over the last month and they were fortunate to raise the money to produce this amazing play. But, even while struggling financially for a long time, the overall quality of their shows has not suffered.

In fact the Colony received an Ovation Award nomination for their entire series of plays last year. Many of us have donated money to help keep the theater alive, but much more than small individual donations are needed. It would be wonderful if one of the many large entertainment companies in Burbank would step forward and offer financial assistance. This wonderful theater should not be allowed to close.
