The 28-year-old Lancaster woman who struck a 5-year-old boy crossing the street in Burbank Monday was reportedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision, police said.

Identified by police as Meagan Booth, the motorist was arrested on suspicion of causing injuries while driving under the influence and felony hit-and-run after she reportedly attempted to flee the scene of the incident, said Burbank Police Lt. Eddie Ruiz.

Witnesses reportedly followed Booth to 7-Eleven, where she was arrested.

The boy, who was knocked to the ground while crossing the street with his grandmother at Fairview Street and Victory Boulevard, was treated at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles for minor injuries, including body abrasions, Ruiz said.

Booth is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
