A 22-year-old Burbank man suspected of beating a Sunland man Saturday was released from police custody on Monday after posting $500,000 bail.

Eric Wang was arrested Saturday on suspicion of attempted murder after police discovered a 22-year-old man on the sidewalk in the 1600 block of West Alameda Avenue with severe injuries around 7:30 p.m., Burbank Police Sgt. Claudio Losacco said in a statement.

The victim was transported to the hospital with severe head and upper-body injuries, including apparent stab wounds and blunt-force trauma. He remained in critical condition as of Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

It appears the two men knew each other, police said.

“It was not a random act, so the neighborhood is safe,” said Burbank Police Sgt. Darin Ryburn.

Further details were not immediately available.

Anyone with information about the attack is urged to call Burbank police at (818) 238-3210.
