LCAD grads can look into others’ lives

Laguna College of Art and Design (LCAD) is participating in the 2013 Strategic National Arts Alumni Project, offering a look into the lives and careers of artists across the United States.

In the fall, LCAD graduates should keep an eye out for an email invitation, which will enable them to share personal insights and contribute to national arts education.

Once the survey is complete, alumni will be able to enter a site providing a peephole into the lives of other graduates — where they live and work, how much they earn and more.

This initiative is expected to help LCAD and other arts institutions better serve its students.

Artists works head to runway

The Festival of Arts concludes its summer Art Talk series from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday by spotlighting artist W. Bradley Elsberry, who has won the Festival Runway Fashion Show several times in the past.

In 2012, he earned the event’s “Most Creative Concept” for a design employing packaging and wrapping material, as well as the “People’s Choice Award.”

Other artists, including Elizabeth McGhee, Adam Neeley, Brittany Ryan and Jon Seeman, will be vying for $1,000 cash prizes in the following categories: Most Creative Concept, Most Exciting Ensemble, Most Innovative Use of Materials and Most Glamorous and Elegant “Red Carpet.”

“The Festival Runway Fashion Show is one of our most popular events of the entire summer,” Susan Davis, director of special events, said in a news release. “Having the opportunity to hear from Brad about past designs and plans for this year’s show is something visitors won’t want to miss!”
