Woman arrested after Laguna Canyon crash

A car crashed into a pole along Laguna Canyon Road and sparked several tree fires early Sunday morning, according to Laguna Beach police.

Laguna Beach resident Farren McGuire Braun, 21, was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, Sgt. Louise Callus said in an email.

Braun was allegedly driving inbound on Laguna Canyon Road when she hit a pole near the Laguna Beach Animal Shelter at 1:58 a.m. Sunday, Callus said.

An electrical wire disconnected from the pole and dangled in some nearby trees, causing small fires, police said.

Laguna Beach firefighters arrived and put out the fires with water, Callus said. Officers kept traffic flowing in each direction by setting up cones and flares.

Braun was the only person in the car and no other vehicles were involved in the crash, according to police.
