Two businesses in close proximity on South Coast Highway were robbed a minute apart late Saturday afternoon in Laguna Beach, police said.

The thefts occurred in the 400 and 500 blocks at 5:54 p.m. and 5:55 p.m. Saturday, according to the police log.

In the later incident, a man and a woman stole $600 worth of clothes and a necklace from 550 S. Coast Hwy, the log said.

The man, tall and dark-skinned, allegedly paid for a portion of the merchandise, but didn’t pay for the rest, Sgt. Louise Callus wrote in an email. A tall woman accompanied him, and they both escaped north on Coast Highway toward downtown, police said.

In the earlier incident, three women stole two bikini bottoms from Molly Brown’s at 490 S. Coast Hwy., according to police.

A store employee chased the women, who dropped the clothes.

The incidents do not appear to be related and no arrests have been made, police said.
