SAN CLEMENTE — Sophomore Karick Brown was the Sea Kings’ No. 6 golfer on Thursday at Talega Golf Club and his six-over-par 41 was the difference in keeping CdM undefeated five matches into the season.

The tiebreaker in the nonleague match was the scores of each team’s sixth golfer and Brown’s card was three strokes better than San Clemente’s golfer.

Chase Wheatley shot one-under-par 34 to earn medalist honors for CdM.

Hale Furey finished with a 37, and Brian Mull, John Davenport and Mike Moorhead each had 40s.

Newport Harbor 203, Sage Hill 206

NEWPORT BEACH — Danny Willett shot the Sailors’ low, a three-over-par 39, in the nonleague match Thursday at Big Canyon Country Club.

Senior Ahmed Eltamami was the medalist with a 37 for Sage (4-1), which had Tanner Tremaine and Michael Phan shoot 40 and 42, respectively.

Max Meisenheimer (40), Eli Gomez (40), Mason Moody (41) and Tyler Tashiro (43) also scored for Newport Harbor (4-1).

COSTA MESA — Eagles senior Jake Knapp was medalist, firing an even-par 36 in the nonleague match Thursday.

Aaron Wood (37), Courtland Lee (39), Jake Stone (41) and Bill Crosson (42) also scored for Estancia, which improved to 4-1.

The Eagles play rival Costa Mesa on Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Costa Mesa Country Club.

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Senior Nelson Negrillo shot a four-over-par 39 and earned medalist honors in the Mustangs’ nonleague match at Meadowlark Golf Club on Thursday.

Sushil Bhaka had a 40 for Costa Mesa (3-2).

Sage Hill 14, Oxford Academy 4

NEWPORT BEACH — Sage senior Robbe Simon won all 18 of his games played at No. 1 singles in the Academy League opener Thursday at The Tennis Club Newport Beach.

All three doubles teams swept for the Lightning (1-3, 1-0 in league) as Alex Manolakas and Eric Magliarditi, Dennis Cirit and Sam Shephard, as well as Ryan Lee and Garrett Rapport, all won three sets each.

Sage Hill plays host to Los Alamitos on Wednesday.

COSTA MESA — Sophomores Sean Perrier and Garret Beyers swept at No. 2 doubles for the Sailors in a nonleague match on Thursday.

Mike Allen swept at No. 3 singles for Newport Harbor (2-0).

NEWPORT COAST — Chris Zadra had 13 kills, nine digs and four aces to help the Lightning to a 25-19, 25-21, 25-17 nonleague win Thursday.

Creagan Lydon had nine kills and Kent Kawaguchi had 32 assists, five kills and five aces for Sage Hill (2-1).

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Senior outside hitter Dylan Gaitan recorded 17 kills for the Eagles in a nonleague match, which Marina swept, 25-20, 25-16, 25-19, on Thursday.

Estancia dropped to 1-4.

BOYS’ SWIMMING

Ocean View 88, Costa Mesa 87

HUNTINGTON BEACH — The Mustangs were edged in Thursday’s nonleague meet, after finishing second in the meet-ending 400-yard freestyle relay.

Victor Gonzalez (200 IM, 2:15.17), James Lewis (200 free, 1:55.95), Mason Cooper (50 free, 24.38 seconds) and Tyler Connors (1:01.65) all won events for Mesa. The 200 and 400 free relay teams also clocked in with CIF Southern Section Division III consideration times.

Mesa swims at the Los Amigos co-ed relays on Saturday.
