Irvine man gets 45 years for sexually assaulting women he met online

An Irvine man received a 45 years to life in prison sentence Friday for raping and forcibly sodomizing three women he met through a millionaire matchmaking website.

Joseph Raymond Garcia, 51, was convicted last month of six counts of forced sodomy and two counts of rape with a sentencing enhancement for attacking multiple women.

Between March 2005 and October 2006, Garcia met two women who contacted him on https://www.MillionaireMatch.com, where he claimed he made more than $200,000 a year and was “strikingly handsome.” He met a third woman while she was working at a post office.

According to prosecutors, Garcia went on dates with the women then brought them back to his apartment. Once inside, Garcia raped and sodomized them.

During his sentencing, the victims told the judge how the attacks hurt them physically, financially and emotionally. One asked the judge to sentence Garcia long enough to ensure he can’t hurt other women.
