The Newport Beach Breakers responded to their first loss of the season with a 23-14 road win against the Kansas City Explorers Friday, improving to 3-1 in the World Team Tennis league.

Lester Cook opened with a 5-2 win over Alex Kuznetsov in men's singles. Cook later teamed with Travis Rettenmaier to score a 5-3 victory over Kuznetsov andRicardo Mello.
Keothavong and Marie-Eve Pelletier won the women's doubles set, 5-2, over Madison Brengle and Kveta Peschke. Pelletier and Rettenmaier also won, 5-2, in mixed doubles against Peschke and Kuznetsov.
