CORONA DEL MAR — Corona del Mar advanced to the quarterfinals with wins over Tesoro, 19-6, and Santa Barbara, 12-7, Thursday.

Kyle Trush and Reid Chase scored three goals each against Tesoro. Chase and Danny Marshall had three goals against Santa Barbara.

CdM plays against Los Alamitos in the quarterfinals Friday at 5 p.m. at CdM.

NEWPORT HARBOR — Newport Harbor advanced to the quarterfinals, beating Buena Park, 19-1, and Northwood, 11-6, Thursday.

The Sailors play against Dana Hills in the quarterfinals Friday at 5 p.m. at JSerra. Newport’s pool is not in service, Athletic Director Mike Zimmerman said.

Costa Mesa 18, La Quinta 3

COSTA MESA — Senior Wyatt Ferris and sophomores Nick Lewis and Deighton Tachiki-Urias each scored four goals for the Mustangs in the nonleague win Wednesday.

Sophomore goalie James Rydjeski had eight saves for Mesa, which plays at the Grafton Weiss Memorial Tournament at Katella beginning Friday.

Newport Harbor 15, Huntington Beach 3

NEWPORT BEACH — Kate Knight swept at No. 1 singles for the Sailors in the Sunset League match Thursday.

Kelsey Christiansen and Lexi DeSantis swept No. 2 doubles, while Megan Bathen and Kaitlyn Cosenza won two at No. 1 doubles before being subbed out for Newport Harbor (8-3, 3-0 in league).

Newport Harbor 239, Huntington Beach 256

NEWPORT BEACH — Grace Ferrell shot three-over-par 39 to earn medalist honors for the Sailors in the Sunset League match at Big Canyon Country Club Thursday.

Tara Hanna (42), Hannah Perry (47), Tahya Corona (52) and Christina Ferraro (59) also scored for Newport Harbor (5-6, 1-2 in league).

FIELD HOCKEY

Newport Harbor 4, Louisville 1

MOORPARK — Taury Hlinka scored three goals for the Sailors in the nonleague game Thursday at Moorpark College.

Kari Hancock added one goal, while Jill Messersmith, Kirsten Rohan and Kaitlin Shedd provided assists for Newport Harbor (2-0-2). Goalie Cailynn Smethurst made five saves.
