The 10-and-under Newport-Mesa Waves boys’ soccer team recently won the Silver South division of the Coast Soccer League and went undefeated in its age group.

Coached by Chris Klein (a former Los Angeles Galaxy star player), the boys have spent the last eight months training together in preparation for their unbeaten season of 10-0-2.

With an explosive offense and an iron-strong defense the team finished the season scoring 49 goals and only allowing 11 goals. The Waves allowed fewer goals scored by their opponents than any of the other U10 boys’ team in the entire Silver division, which includes teams from down South, the Inland Empire, and as far north as Santa Barbara.
