Coast Community College District’s board of trustees last week unanimously selected a president for 2013.

Huntington Beach resident and former professor Lorraine Prinsky was first elected to the board in 2008 and reelected in November. This is Prinsky’s first term as president. She previously served as vice president and clerk for the board, according to a press release.

CCCD oversees three community colleges in Orange County: Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, Coastline Community College in Fountain Valley and Golden West College in Huntington Beach.

Mary Hornbuckle, who represents Costa Mesa, was reelected as vice president.

Hornbuckle served on the Costa Mesa City Council from 1984 to 1996 and this year retired as director of St. Mark’s Preschool in Costa Mesa.

Fountain Valley and parts of Westminster representative Jerry Patterson, a former congressman and a member of the board since 1996, was elected clerk.

“I am honored to serve as president of the board,” Prinsky said in a prepared statement. “As only the fourth woman to serve in this role, I am proud to have been chosen to lead this board in the coming year.”
