Mary Isabella Macdonald

Obituary Notice for Mary Isabella Macdonald

On Sunday, March 25th we lost a Newport Beach Icon.  Mary Isabella Macdonald who had been hospitalized at Hoag Hospital in a coma for a week, passed away peacefully surrounded by friends and family.

Mary, who was 85 years old at the time of her passing, was the third oldest child of Neil and Maggie Macdonald.  Born in Suva, Fiji Islands on October 31, 1926 she was educated at the Suva Grammar School, then left Fiji to continue her studies in New Zealand at Brown’s University.

She left New Zealand after a number of years and lived in Italy for a short time before migrating to New York City where she lived for several years.  She then moved to Newport Beach where she has resided for the past thirty years, running her nanny/Babysitting agency (Sitters Unlimited).

Mary was known by so many people and was loved by her large circle of friends.  We will miss this special lady who was 85 years old going on 50 with a sparkling personality and optimistic spirit.  She always thought of others and was forever giving to friends and anyone in need.  The world is an emptier place with her passing.

Please save flowers for her memorial, which will be held at a later date, to be advised.  Send any cards for the family to Mary’s office at 881 Dover Drive, Suite 280, Newport Beach, California 92663.
