A former teacher and coach at an Irvine high school was sentenced to 10 years in prison for posing as a teenage girl on Facebook to get nude photos and videos from more than 100 underage boys, authorities said Wednesday.

Zachary Reeder, 31, created a Facebook account and pretended to be a blonde high school student to “convince and direct the victims to send sexually explicit photos and videos,” the Orange County district attorney’s office said in a statement.

Reeder was charged with targeting his victims between June 1, 2010, and Jan. 14, 2013. At the time, he was a history teacher at Servite High School in Anaheim, the district attorney’s office said. Reeder previously had worked as a history teacher and walk-on assistant baseball coach for four seasons at Arnold O. Beckman High School in Irvine.

“He targeted the victims whom he knew through teaching or coaching,” authorities said.

Reeder was sentenced after pleading guilty to felonies including using a minor for sex acts and possession and control of child pornography. He was also sentenced to mandatory lifetime sex offender registration.
