Political Landscape: Moorlach to hold grand opening of campaign headquarters

Share

Former Supervisor John Moorlach, who is running for the state Senate’s 37th District in a special election to replace Mimi Walters, will hold a grand opening at his Newport Beach campaign headquarters Sunday.

The event is from 10 a.m. to noon at 2252 Mesa Drive, a private office building behind a residence overlooking the Back Bay.

Moorlach, who was termed-out and prevented from running again for the Orange County Board of Supervisors after his term ended last month, faces state Assemblyman Don Wagner (R-Irvine) and Naz Namazi, a congressional aide, in the race for the state Senate seat. All three candidates are Republicans.

Walters was elected in November to the 45th Congressional District, a seat held by U.S. Rep. John Campbell (R-Irvine), who is retiring.

The election is March 17.

Women’s group endorsement for Wagner

State Assemblyman Don Wagner (R-Irvine) announced an endorsement from the California Women’s Leadership Assn. in the race for the 37th state Senate district.

In a news release, the association called Wagner a “champion of conservative women” and “voice for economic opportunity and fiscal responsibility. He has distinguished himself as a leader who not only represents his constituents by firmly holding to his principles, but as a leader who will advance those principles into reforms through working with his colleagues to pass meaningful legislation.”
