A baby-faced attempted burglar tried to pry his way through a door to get into campus housing at UC Irvine last week, according to police.

Campus police are now asking for help identifying the person they say took an unknown metal tool to a sliding glass door of a home in the Schubert Court area of University Hills.

Around 3:15 p.m. on April 29, the victim of the attempted burglary heard a noise in his living room and saw someone crouching on a patio outside the glass door.

After being seen, the would-be burglar fled.

Police described the suspect as a Hispanic male in his mid 20s, who is between 5-feet-4-inches tall and 5-feet-6-inches tall, with a clean-shaven baby face.

He was wearing a Yankees baseball cap, a black hoodie and a white under shirt, police said in a news release.

Police asked anyone with information to contact detectives at (949) 824-1161 or parkjm@uci.edu and reference the case No. 14-0735.
