Forum for Newport council candidates Thursday

All eight candidates for the Newport Beach City Council are scheduled to appear at a free public forum Thursday morning, according to the Chamber of Commerce, which is presenting the event.

The forum will be from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at the Newport Beach Public Library, 1000 Avocado Ave. A free continental breakfast will be served at 7 a.m.

The forum will be moderated by Lucy Dunn, president and chief executive of the Orange County Business Council, who will ask the candidates a series of questions.

Though there is no charge for admission, a reservation is needed. Walk-ups will be admitted if space is available, the chamber said.

To register, visit or contact Pam Smith at or (949) 729-4411

The candidates who filed for the Nov. 4 council election are Diane Dixon, District 1; Duffy Duffield and Mayor Rush Hill, District 3; Tim Brown, Roy Englebrecht and Kevin Muldoon, District 4; and Scott Peotter and Mike Toerge, District 6.
