Judy (aka “Nannie” and “Princess”), of Lake Forest and Balboa Island, was welcomed home to Heaven on October 29, 2013 after a battle with lymphoma. Her passing was a shock, but she fought a good fight and kept us laughing until the end. Judy was born on October 22, 1942 in Frazier Park and later resided in Phoenix, AZ where she attended Sunnyslope High School. A cheerleader in high school, Judy went on to graduate from the University of Arizona where she became the cheer director. She later worked at her family’s business, Schock Boats, before becoming a successful real estate broker in 1980. Throughout Judy’s real estate career, she earned several awards including “Multi-Million Dollar Producer”, “Top Listing Agent”, “Top Producing Agent”, and multiple-time winner of the “President’s Circle” award. She was most recently with Regency and took pride in helping people find their dream homes.
A resident of Orange County for 43 years, Judy loved traveling the world with her soul mate and husband, Gary of Balboa Island. Together, they grew especially fond of Tuscany, New York, Switzerland, London, and Hawaii. Judy was a big USC Football fan, cherished Christmas time in her cheerfully decorated home, enjoyed relaxing on Balboa Island, eating out and splitting meals, and loved to shop – and as we’ve learned – she shopped for gifts months ahead of special family occasions. More than anything, however, “Nannie” adored her 13 grandchildren. Nothing brought her more happiness than when she cheered with a big smile on her face at their sporting events and performances. She rarely missed an event. Nannie created many traditions – including annual holiday cookie decorating, spaghetti dinners, plays at the performing arts center and overflowing Christmas stockings and Easter baskets. Judy had a way of making everyone feel special and loved. Her easy-going and non-judgmental nature made her a friend to everyone who met her.
Judy was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothea Wingate, father Robert Kafader, and brother Burt Kafader. She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Gary Jennison, daughter Tammi Matta (Troy) of Nipomo, Rich Faulks (Jen) of Rancho Santa Margarita, Jeff Jennison (Ann Marie) of Ladera Ranch, Todd Jennison of Temecula, Amy Williams (Rob) of San Diego and Andrew Jennison (Julie) of Pacific Palisades; grandchildren Stefanie and Todd Garber, Nolan Pugh, Jordyn and Ryan Faulks, Jack, Maggie, Charlie and Jane Jennison, George and Abigayle Williams, and Ava and Tate Jennison; sisters Suzie McQuitty (John) of Phoenix, AZ, Karen Griffin (Sam) of Tracy and numerous relatives and friends that rounded out her circle of love. Judy lived life to the fullest, saw the best in everyone, and left this world a better and happier place.
