College Roundup: UCI women’s soccer tops Cal Poly

Grayson Galbraith and Noel Baham scored in the 53rd and 55ty minute, respectively, to help the host Anteaters overcome a 1-0 deficit in the Big West Conference game Friday night.

Reema Bzeih registered an assist on both UCI goals, while Lili Andino also earned an assist for the hosts (11-5-1, 3-1-1 in conference).

Maddie Newsom had three saves for UCI.

Cal Poly fell to 6-9-2, 1-4-1.

Santiago Canyon 3, Orange Coast 1

Lupe Rodriguez scored for the host Pirates in the Orange Empire Conference game Friday.

Jordan Moore posted the assist on the OCC goal in the 72nd minute, after the Hawks took a 2-0 lead.

OCC Is 9-4-3, 6-3-2 in conference.

Santiago Canyon is 14-0-1, 10-0-1.

MEN’S WATER POLO

Doubleheader

Orange Coast College won a pair of nonconference home games on Saturday, topping Ventura, 19-9, and besting Grossmont, 15-9.

Parker Evans led OCC scorers against Ventura with five goals, while Kevin Dayan had a team-best four goals in the win over Grossmont.

OCC is 18-6.

SARATOGA – Ryan Warde scored four goals to lead the visiting Anteaters in the Golden Coast Conference game Friday at West Valley College.

Jack Trush and Ian Fleenor had two goals apiece for UCI (9-8, 1-1 in conference).

The Spartans are 4-12, 0-2.

Doubleheader

Visiting Vanguard was swept twice in road matches at different sites in Missouri on Saturday.

Columbia College posted a 25-22, 35-21, 25-17 triumph, while Park earned a 25-16, 25-22, 25-23 win over the Lions (11-17).
