OC Breakers tickets on sale

Individual match night tickets for the Orange County Breakers 2013 home matches are on sale.

Local stars Steve Johnson, a former USC standout, and Coco Vandeweghe, a Newport Beach resident, lead the Breakers team as they open their Mylan World Team Tennis season at the Bren Events Center on the UC Irvine campus July 7 against the Philadelphia Freedoms.

Andy Roddick comes to play against the Breakers on July 13.

The Breakers will play 14 regular-season matches between July 7 and 24, including seven home matches on July 7, 8, 13, 15, 16, 21 and 24. Individual match night tickets range in price from $15 to $55 with chairback seating available for all matchups.

Several themed promotions are planned throughout the season including USTA/WTT Member Appreciation Night (July 7); High School Night (July 8); Mascot birthday party (July 15); Military Appreciation Night (July 21) and Fan Appreciation (July 24). The first 50 children ages 12-and-under to enter the Bren Events Center on July 7, 8, 15, 21 and 24 will receive a free junior tennis racket and ball.

The world’s top-ranked doubles team Bob and Mike Bryan visit the Breakers on July 16 with the Texas Wild, and the current top-ranked American Sam Querrey travels to Orange County on July 21 with in-state rival Sacramento Capitals.

Mylan WTT co-founder Billie Jean King will be honored on July 13 as the team celebrates the 40th anniversary of her historic win over Bobby Riggs in the “Battle of the Sexes” match.

Joining Johnson and Vandeweghe on the Breakers roster are Treat Huey who played for the 2012 Mylan WTT Champions Washington Kastles and Maria Elena Camerin, a three-time WTA Tour double titlist from Italy. Coach Trevor Kronemann, who returns for his seventh season at the helm of the Breakers, is also head coach of the UC Irvine men’s tennis team. He will be joined on the Breakers bench this year by new assistant coach, Steve Johnson, Sr.

The Orange County Breakers compete in the Western Conference of Mylan WTT. At the end of the regular season, the top two teams from both the Western and Eastern Conferences advance to the 2013 Mylan WTT Conference Championships which will be hosted July 25 by the top-seeded team in each conference. The 2013 Mylan WTT Finals presented by GEICO will be contested on the home court of the Eastern Conference Champions July 28.
