A 66-year-old man died Thursday after receiving a massage at a newly opened spa in Glendale, police said. The man was reportedly lying on his back while getting the massage at about 10:40 p.m. at the spa in the 500 block of East Broadway when he suddenly coughed and became unresponsive, Glendale police spokeswoman Tahnee Lightfoot said. A 50-year-old African American city employee has filed a lawsuit against the city of Burbank alleging race and age discrimination after multiple unsuccessful attempts to get a new job with the city, records show. Burbank Leader

A 33-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs in connection with a crash that left a Los Angeles police motorcycle officer in critical condition, police said. Qaneak Cobb of Pacoima was arrested after the collision, which took place about 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Lankershim Boulevard and Saticoy Street, police said. The officer, whose name has not been released, was stopped at a traffic light when Cobb’s red SUV struck him from behind and pinned him to the car in front, authorities said. Los Angeles Times
