818 Roundup: Suspect in custody after firing single shot; Districts seek consultant for Sagebrush terms

- A man who reportedly fired a single shot inside the JP Allen Extended Stays at the Days Inn in Glendale Tuesday afternoon surrendered to police after barricading himself in a room for more than two hours, police said.
Glendale and La Cañada school districts are looking for outside help for the potential transfer of the Sagebrush territory after learning a previous proposal would have failed regulatory muster.
- Three companies that had been in short-term leases to use parts of a 58-acre property owned by the Bob Hope Airport known as the “B6” parcel, or “Opportunity Site,” have failed to vacate the premises as required under their lease terms, and
this week the airport authority authorized staff to initiate lawsuits against those businesses to regain possession of the property.

school board voted to send a letter to city officials stating their concerns over proposed wireless antennas about 60 feet from John Burroughs High School.
- White House officials have decided that President Obama will not use the word “genocide” to describe the killings of more than 1 million Armenians at the hands of Ottoman Turks when he commemorates the deaths Friday, the 100th anniversary of the massacres.
