210 Freeway lanes reopened Thursday night after earlier big rig collision

The San Gabriel River (210) Freeway was reopened Thursday night after a big rig collision shut down all eastbound lanes in the Pasadena area of the freeway.

A Sig Alert was issued at 1:05 p.m. east of Allen Avenue “until further notice,” according to the California Highway Patrol.

Two big rigs had been involved in a collision, CHP Office Patrick Kimball told KTLA. It was not known if anyone was injured in the incident, which occurred at 12:56 p.m., he said.

The westbound carpool lane was closed and CHP was shutting down the eastbound 134 Freeway transition to the eastbound 210, Kimball said. All westbound 210 Freeway traffic was being diverted, and the Allen Avenue on-ramp was being shut down.

The Metro Gold Line was closed in the same area due to “auto on tracks,” Metro stated on Twitter. Gold Line service was suspended between Sierra Madre Villa and Lake Avenue and bus shuttles had been requested, according to Metro, which advised that delays could be expected through rush hour.

Three lanes were reopened at 4:35 p.m., but the carpool lane and No. 1 and 2 lanes remained closed till Thursday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol traffic log.
