Briefly: Business Assistance and Career Fair today

In an effort to help job seekers and entrepreneurs, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Burbank) is sponsoring a Small Business Assistance and Career Opportunity Fair today at the Pasadena Convention Center.

Representatives from seven local chambers of commerce, the Small Business Administration, the Verdugo Workforce Investment Board and dozens of other government or economic development agencies will be at the event.

Morning seminars will include “Business Loans 101,” “How Businesses Can Survive and Thrive in Tough Economic Times” and “How to Get a Job with the Federal Government.”

The free event runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Pasadena Convention Center, 300 E. Green St., Pasadena. For more information, call Schiff’s Pasadena office at (626) 304-2727.

Magazine editor to appear on Zarian show

John Krikorian, the owner of Glendale-based Business Life Magazine, is scheduled to appear live Thursday on “The Larry Zarian Show” to discuss his 20th publishing anniversary.

The magazine has organized economic summits for small businesses and has been honored by the Small Business Administration. Krikorian’s son, Greg, is also a co-owner of the magazine and a Glendale school board member.

Public Storage clarifies market share

Public Storage officials disputed an analyst’s comment on its second-quarter earnings report. Analyst George Van Horn told the News-Press the Glendale-based company controls about 24% of the domestic storage market. Clemente Teng, Public Storage’s vice president of investor relations, said the firm controls about 5% of the domestic square footage devoted to storage.
