Burglar allegedly targets Chamlian School
Police are searching for an underage suspect who allegedly broke into Vahan & Anoush Chamlian School in La Crescenta after hours and made off with sports equipment and a small amount of money, police said.
A male believed to be between 14 and 16 years old entered an unlocked gym and cafeteria on the K-8 campus at 4444 Lowell Ave. around 8 p.m. on April 24, said Tahnee Lightfoot, a spokeswoman with the Glendale Police Department.
From the cafeteria, he stole a backpack and flashlight, Lightfoot said.
The suspect also reportedly broke into locked classrooms and a coach’s office by manipulating the doors’ mechanisms, she said.
A hand pump, small compressor pump, Frisbee and $15 in cash were taken from the office, Lightfoot said.
He then reportedly used his skateboard to flee the campus, she added.
The suspect is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall, between 130 and145 pounds with short dark hair.
Anyone with information about the suspect or the burglary is asked to contact Det. Kelly Kramer at (818) 548-2097.
