We’re rounding up the top headlines in the region:
- A tanker truck that overturned near the 2 Freeway in Eagle Rock early Wednesday left plenty to cry about after sending its load of milk down an embankment. The truck veered over the side of the transition road from the eastbound 134 Freeway to the southbound 2 Freeway at about 3:30 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Just when and how much noise will be tolerated in La Cañada could soon be reviewed by the City Council, after a routine discussion Monday on the organization of related regulations revealed some citizens may be lawfully abusing their right to make noise in residential areas.
After a successful second attempt at making the United States Olympics women’s luge team, La Cañada High graduate Kate Hansen will now turn her dream into a reality Monday when she makes her first run at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia -- more than a decade after she first began practicing the luge.
The Glendale City Council approved a new ordinance requiring some owners of massage establishments to undergo criminal background checks and pay for a city-issued certificate to operate in Glendale. The ordinance will apply to massage establishment operators who own at least 5% of the business and are not certified by the California Massage Therapy Council.
A 28-year-old Arleta man pleaded guilty on Tuesday to secretly filming someone in the women’s restroom where he worked in Burbank, authorities said.
A case involving a former Woodbury University employee who filed a wrongful termination lawsuit against the college, alleging she was fired without cause, was recently dismissed, according to court records. Rose Nielsen, a La Cañada Flintridge resident and wife of Kenneth Nielsen, Woodbury University’s former president, claimed she was fired in September 2012 after reporting alleged mistreatment of other university employees by the wife of Luis Calingo, the college’s then newly named president.
