Freeway shooting in Atwater Village results in injury

A woman was shot and wounded Wednesday morning as she was exiting the Golden State (5) Freeway just outside Glendale, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Around 6:06 a.m., the victim had exited via the Colorado Boulevard offramp and came to a red light at San Fernando Road, said Officer Sally Madera.

It was then that a dark-colored SUV pulled up next to her and an unidentified suspect fired a single shot at the woman, who was alone in her vehicle, Madera said.

She was taken to a local hospital with an unknown injury, but was conscious and talking as she was being transported, Madera said.

The Colorado Boulevard offramp was temporarily closed while police officials investigated the shooting.

Suspect and vehicle descriptions were not immediately available.
