Glendale police seek suspect in cellphone theft

Police are searching for a man who allegedly snatched a cellphone from a woman outside of a 7-Eleven store in Glendale on Wednesday.

The robbery was reported at 10:25 p.m. on the sidewalk outside the convenience store at 425 E. Broadway, said Glendale police spokeswoman Tahnee Lightfoot.

The 48-year-old victim was talking to a friend on her cellphone when the alleged suspect walked by and asked her how she was doing, Lightfoot said.

The suspect then forcefully pulled the phone away from her ear, took it and ran northbound on Jackson Street, along with another man, she said.

The suspect was described as a black male in his mid-30s and wearing a yellow shirt with camouflage shorts, Lightfoot said. The other suspect was described as a black male in his mid-30s, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.

The victim was not injured in the incident.
