Glendale senior living complex accepting applications
Low-income seniors seeking affordable housing can apply for 17 units in a rehabilitated and modernized Glendale apartment complex called Cypress Senior Living between March 31 and April 14.
The $4.3-million renovation to the 1928 brick building includes new kitchens, bathrooms, flooring and other improvements.
Veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces will receive lease preferences for six of the units. Tenants will be selected through a random selection lottery.
Applicants for the restored project, which was paid for using a combination of federal and city funding as well as tax credits provided to affordable housing developers, must have at least one household member who is at least 62 years old.
One or two-member households making between $10,440 and $39,120 annually may pay between $435 to $870 monthly for one of the 13 studios. One to three-member households with incomes between $11,232 and $44,040 a year may pay between $466 to $932 for one of four available one-bedroom units, according to a city report.
Lottery applications can be downloaded and printed at www.communitydevpartners.com/CypressSeniorLottery. Applications will also be available at the Armenian Relief Society, 517 W. Glenoaks Blvd., Catholic Charities, 4322 San Fernando Road, and Glendale’s Community Development Department, 141 N. Glendale Ave., Suite 202.
Applications should be mailed to Cypress Senior Living, 3416 Via Oporto, Newport Beach, CA. 92663. All applications must be postmarked no later than April 14.
