Joyce Elaine Beaumont Brace died in the early morning of Good Friday, March 29, 2013. She
suffered a broken pelvis on Christmas Eve followed by a broken hip on March 11th which necessitated surgery. Unfortunately the surgery resulted in a paralyzing stroke which took her
life after a few short days. Her friends and children are thankful her end was peaceful with
little suffering.

Joyce was born January 1, 1930 in Monmouth, IL, the daughter of Edward Herbert Beaumont
and Lillian Gertrude Anderson. Joyce spent her early childhood in Hibbing, MN raised by her
grandmother Gertrude Carlson Anderson and her great grand uncle Andrew Peter Nelson. She
was predeceased by her husband, George Floyd Brace, Jr.

Joyce is survived by her half-brothers, Marion and Nollie Beaumont; children Matthew Brace,
Rebecca (Brace) and Craig Kreeger, and Sarah Abigail (Abby) Brace; grandchildren Heather
Brace and J.R. Hoffman, Amber (Brace) and Nate Hastings and Isabel Kreeger; great-grandchildren Ayden and Blayze Brace-Hoffman and Parker Hastings.

Joyce retired from the Glendale Unified School District in 1997 after more than 40 years in
education. Her career culminated by receiving the Educator of the Year award for the Southern
California region. After her retirement, Joyce was active in the California Retired Teachers
Association, PEO and the La Canada Presbyterian Church. Additionally, she volunteered in a variety of ways at her resident community, Villa Gardens in Pasadena. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her for her generous spirit and willingness to give of herself and her time.

A memorial service and reception will be held on Thursday, April 11th, 2013 at 3 p.m. at La Canada Presbyterian Church, 626 Foothill Blvd., La Canada, CA.

To honor Joyce’s memory, in lieu of flowers, please donate to a local education charity of your choice.
