A joint doughnut shop and Chinese restaurant inside a La Crescenta strip mall was damaged by an electrical fire early Friday morning, according fire officials.

The blaze at Daily Donuts China Express at 2550 Foothill Blvd. was reported at 5:45 a.m. and was extinguished about an hour later, said inspector Tony Akins of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

One person suffered minor injuries and had to be transported to an area hospital, Akins said, adding it was an electrical fire that started in the attic.

The blaze resulted in about $50,000 in structural damage and $20,000 worth of loss in contents, he said.

Calls to the business were not answered.

No other unit in the strip mall was damaged, Akins said.
