Glendale police release surveillance photos of vehicle burglary suspects

Police have released surveillance photos of three men suspected of breaking into a car in early June and stealing a backpack carrying money that belonged to a Montrose Farmers Market vendor.

The vehicle burglary happened sometime between 3:15 and 3:25 p.m. on June 1 in a parking lot at 3701 Ocean View Blvd., said Glendale Police spokeswoman Tahnee Lightfoot.

The female victim was wrapping up work for the day as she placed the backpack containing the day’s cash proceeds in her vehicle and then locked it, Lightfoot said.

The amount stolen was not disclosed.

The victim stepped away for a few minutes and that’s when one of the suspects — described as between the ages of 28 and 35, 5 foot 4 to 5 foot 7 with a thin build — approached the car and checked the door handles, she said.

He then stood in the parking lot holding his cellphone to his ear. That’s when another suspect — between the ages of 38 and 50, 5 foot 10 and 6 foot 1 with a medium-heavy build — constantly scanned the area on foot while also having his phone to his ear, Lightfoot said.

The final suspect then approached the vehicle and allegedly smashed one of its windows, snatched the backpack and placed it in a large cardboard box.

The third man is described as between 28 and 35 years old, between 6 foot and 6 foot 2 with a thin build and close-cropped hair.

The three suspects walked away quickly from the scene on foot.

Anyone with information about the vehicle burglary is asked to contact Det. Kelly Kramer of the Glendale Police Department at (818) 548-2097.
