Glendale Police this week released surveillance photos of an armed suspect who allegedly robbed a 99 Cents Only store.

On June 14, an unidentified male suspect entered the store at 6401 San Fernando Road, and walked around for about an hour, entering and exiting several times, said Glendale Police spokeswoman Tahnee Lightfoot.

Around 10 p.m., the suspect approached a cashier and said his son was sick and that he needed all the money in the register, she said.

He then reached inside his jacket, stating he had a gun and would use it, Lightfoot said.

The suspect quickly grabbed an undisclosed amount of cash from the open register and ran out of the store. No vehicle was seen.

The man is described as between 35 and 45 years old, six feet tall and weighing from 180 to 200 pounds. He has brown hair and was wearing a brown or black jacket, a blue baseball cap and brown leather boots.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Det. Petros Kmbikyan at (818) 937-3987. If you wish to remain anonymous, please contact 1(800) 222-TIPS (8477).
