Sheriff’s officials are investigating a school burglary in which thieves stole cash from teachers’ desks and ransacked several classrooms at La Crescenta Elementary School, police reports state.

Sometime over winter break between Dec. 19 and Jan. 7, unknown suspects entered several classrooms at the school — located at 4343 La Crescenta Ave. — where they ransacked classrooms, knocked over furniture and stole an undisclosed amount of money from envelopes in desk drawers, according to a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s incident report.

A set of keys was missing from the school office, which is left open during school hours, the report stated. School officials told police there was no sign of forced entry, and all the doors were locked during winter break.
