Sports Roundup: Flintridge Prep swimming enjoys strong effort at Division III prelims

BOYS’ SWIMMING

Flintridge Prep at CIF Southern Section Division III prelims: There were quite a few standout efforts from the Rebels at the Riverside Aquatics Center on Wednesday afternoon.

Both the Flintridge Prep 200-yard medley relay squad and the 200 free squad earned first place with times of 1 minute, 38.19 seconds and 1:27.86, respectively.

Rebels senior Carlo Sivilotti also placed first in the 50 freestyle (21.55).

Those three entrants advanced to Thursday’s championships along with senior Marco Flores, who was second in the 100 butterfly (51.44) and sixth in the breaststroke (1:01.08).

The Rebels 400-yard relay squad also punched its ticket with a fourth-place performance (3:17.73).

Andreas Langen just missed in a couple of events as the freshman needed a top-nine effort to advance.

Langen took 11th (4:56.15) in the 500 freestyle and was again 11th (56.01) in the 100 backstroke.

Junior Diego Delgado was 12th (1:49.85) in the 200 freestyle and 16th (5:02.37) in the 500 freestyle.

Gary Lee was also 15th (50.29) in the 100 freestyle.

GIRLS’ SWIMMING

Flintridge Prep at CIF Southern Section Division III prelims: Rebels senior Jennifer Langen enjoyed a successful day at the Riverside Aquatics Center on Wednesday afternoon and will carry her school’s banner.

Langen was her school’s lone qualifier to Thursday’s divisional final and advanced in two events, taking sixth in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 54.14 seconds.

Langen also earlier qualified in the 200 freestyle, placing eighth in 1:59.15.

The Rebels 200 freestyle relay team just missed a top-nine qualifying spot, finishing 10th in 1:45.76.

Rebels freshman Lena Pawlek took 14th (5:31.34) in the 500 freestyle, while the Rebels 200 medley relay team was 15th (1:59.31).
