Teen attacked in Glendale by unknown man with knife
An 18-year-old Tujunga man was slashed Wednesday by a knife-wielding man in Glendale, who police said attacked him for no apparent reason.
The victim suffered a minor cut on his right forearm for which he refused treatment, Glendale spokeswoman Tahnee Lightfoot said. However, he later requested to be transported to Glendale Adventist Medical Center to be treated for a headache.
The knife-wielding man fled before police arrived on the scene.
The victim reportedly didn’t know why the man attacked him because he had never seen him before the incident, she said. The attacker didn’t say anything, nor make demands, Lightfoot added.
The victim was reportedly walking at about 7:35 p.m. in an alley at Wilson Avenue and Jackson Street — which is to the rear of the Police Department headquarters — when he suddenly heard someone walking behind him, she said.
He turned around and saw the man allegedly aggressively walk toward him and he brandished a knife.
The man reportedly swung the knife in a stabbing motion and struck the victim’s arm.
The attacker pushed the victim to the ground and fled the area, Lightfoot said.
The suspect was described as white or Latino with a medium to heavy build and was between 6 feet and 6 feet 2. Police said he had a shiny, bald head and wore a blue long-sleeved shirt and black-and-white checkered shorts.
